DIY Dog Leash Holder: How to Make a Stylish & Functional Display for Your Dogs' Accessories

Looking for a stylish and functional way to display your dog leashes, collars, clothing, and more?

Keep reading as we show you how to make this awesome DIY our co-founder Amanda Wattie made for her dogs.

First thing is first, make sure you have all the supplies needed.

Supplies Needed

Get 2 Planks of Untreated Wood

Most local hardware stores sell small planks of untreated wood and will even cut them to size!

Decide on the length of the plank based on the size of your space and your number of leash hangers.

It usually works best to have the top of the shelf be narrower than the back.

Start Your Project

Step 1 - Stain The Wood

After your wood planks are cut to size, stain it.

While they are drying, complete the next step.

Step 2 - Paint The Dog Coat Hooks & Picture Frames

Remove the glass from the picture frames, drybrush the black picture frames and dog coat hooks with metallic acrylic paint. Remove the glass from the picture frames.

If you paint too much metallic, dry brush black acrylic paint until it looks the way you want it. For even more texture feel free to drybrush a dark grey too.

Once dry, apply a coat or two of clear matte spray paint to protect your dry brushing.

Step 3 - Insert Photos of Your Dogs

Put the glass back in the picture frames and put some cute photos of your dogs in the picture frames.

This makes it easy to tell which hook belongs to which dog.

Step 4 - Put It All Together

Use wood glue and screws to put together the two planks of wood and two shelf brackets.

Place the picture frames and dog coat hooks on the assembled shelf and decide where you want them.

Put one screw in each place where you want the dog coat hook to go. The coat hook will easily slide on.

Use the screws to hang the picture frames or use magnetic strips for a more flush look.
